Updates on this series' status will be posted periodically1/30/2021 - Desiderium has expanded to a series. Currently there are five planned books. Book One, "Desiderium" and Book Two, "Imbroglio" both have finished first drafts and are in editing stages.

Friends made enemies. A soldier made a thief. A girl made a dragon. When you’re on a quest for that which you want the most, you don’t set out to watch the world burn, it just happens. The hardest thing to do - besides staying alive - is not losing yourself. For a witch, a hiker, and a thief, each will have to help the others to keep such from happening as they find their stories intertwined with that of a dark wizard.
Desiderium by S.M. Taylor is a fantasy/adventure that follows the lives of four characters as they discover that in the game of desire, there is much to gain, but everything to lose.
Desiderium//Book One
Charlie was trying to enjoy the last hike of the season and escape her demons, Brielle was on the verge of magical discovery regarding Doorways when their paths converged. The two decide to run away together, Charlie returning with Brielle to her home Realm. This new world is not without it's own problems. A Dark Wizard is on the cusp of taking over; more than that, he has bad blood with Brielle. Before long, Charlie and Brielle find themselves not only racing to find a way to protect themselves, but the entire city of Taelmerath as well.
Imbroglio//Book Two
Even evil intents can breed unbelievable accomplishments. As Barnabus' quest for power becomes more sinister, his attempts to get it only become more astonishing. As he weaves a web of allies around himself, Rowena, alone and cursed in an unfamiliar world, does the same. Her goals less evil, she finds a magic within herself far stronger than she imagined. She and her friends must work hard and fast if they are to rescue Brielle - and the Realm itself - from the wrath of Barnabus, the Dark.
A Meeting of the Lost//Book Three
As the Second Realm falls into darkness, the wanderer Andrus Masterson finds himself taken in by the Band of Thieves. When the mysterious Rowena arrives out of nowhere, the two soon find that together, they can find the things they have lost that they have been so desperate to find. Can they do it before Barnabus, the Dark takes over the Realm and Brielle Brigham is lost forever?
Bitter Magic//Book Four
The sons of Edvard Masterson were destined for great things. While one is pulled toward war and the other toward magic, in the end, their paths will converge again in the Second Realm, as they try to mend the damage done by the past and forge forward. Somehow, they only seem to entangle themselves further into tragedy.
To Stand Against Darkness//Book Five
The final stand against Barnabus, the Dark for the Second Realm. Friends and enemies will be united as the final battle plays out and the fate of the Realm is decided.

Curious what I write to? It varies with my mood. Sometimes it has to be instrumental so I can concentrate on my words; other times a certain song has me so inspired I put it on repeat. For this series in particular, I crafted an entire playlist. For those interested, here ya go:
